About
Welcome to The Wolseley, an exquisite dining destination nestled at 160 Piccadilly, London. This magnificent restaurant captures the essence of European grandeur while offering a contemporary twist on classic dishes. With its ornate interior and elegant ambiance, The Wolseley is not just a place to eat but a splendid experience to savor.
Start your day with their thoroughly crafted breakfast menu, featuring mouthwatering options like the Wolseley Green Juice — a refreshing blend of kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, and ginger (£10.25) — which perfectly balances taste and health. If pastries are your indulgence, take a bite of their Pain au Chocolat or Croissant au Beurre (£5.75), each adorned with the buttery flakiness that defines a good viennoiserie. For the health-conscious foodie, their smoothies, such as the packed Avocado, Apple, Banana, Ginger & Turmeric (£9.00), are an energizing choice to kickstart your morning.
The reviews echo a consistent theme — impeccable service and an atmosphere that embraces both elegance and warmth. Diners like Sam S and Tabitha Lovett laud the stunning interior and seamless service, while enjoying culinary delights such as well-presented afternoon tea. The variety of sandwiches and delightful scones, paired with rich coffees, transforms a simple brunch into a memorable experience.
Notably, the restaurant is praised for its attention to detail and the thoughtful preparation of each dish. Keith W's experience with the haggis and eggs on toast exemplifies the culinary creativity that shines at The Wolseley, turning traditional fare into something remarkable. Meanwhile, Fiona Calwell reflects on the dreamy atmosphere, a recurring sentiment among patrons who linger in the space, reveling in the moment.
Despite minor service hiccups mentioned by Wyn Williams, the overwhelming consensus is that a visit to The Wolseley is well worth planning in advance. This restaurant balances sophistication with a welcoming vibe, making it an ideal spot for both casual breakfasts and elegant afternoon teas. Book your table, and prepare for an unforgettable journey through a menu that is as rich and inviting as the ambiance itself.
“ Great place to visit! We went for afternoon tea and it was absolutely wonderful. Superb service, very attentive and friendly. The tea was delicious as were the different variations of sandwiches, salmon, chicken, cheddar. The scones were amazing as was the cheesecake. All in all definitely worth a visit, classy! ”
“ 4.5/5 - this is my dream atmosphere, hands down. My husband gave his food a 3.5 but I gave mine a 4.5 so we settled on 4. Lovely teas, coffee, and it's a great spot to have breakfast. Their prices are changed from when I took the menu picture but that's the gist of their options! ”
“ This is just a wonderful restaurant. Amazing interior, it’s honestly worth going for that alone, great service and excellent food. I went for breakfast and it was very good. Had the haggis and eggs on toast to start, then pastries and a hot chocolate gourmand. All really good. ”
“ Had breakfast here very recently. My second visit but the first for my friends who loved the decor and atmosphere. My only slight issue was that the waitress, spoke very quietly, didnt explain well and misunderstood one of our orders. Although a minor issue we would definitely return, a real gem. You must book ahead to get youf preferred timings. ”
“ Our visit to The Wolseley was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt elegant yet welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely brunch, followed later by afternoon tea, and everything exceeded our expectations. The coffee was rich and expertly prepared, and the afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with a perfect selection of sandwiches, scones, and pastries. What made the experience truly special was the impeccable service — attentive, warm, and thoughtful without ever feeling intrusive. Every detail was handled with care, making our visit truly memorable. We can’t wait to return. ”
“ My first time at The Wolseley in Piccadilly. I took a friend to lunch there, as a birthday treat. It’s a lovely restaurant, with a Viennese feel to the food and decor. We were sat at a window seat, and the whole experience was high quality. The food was wonderful, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the kedgeree. We will definitely return in the near future. ”
“ Warning: California/Oregon Native here so this review will have a west coast American bias. We went to The Wolseley for afternoon tea on our first day in London. My wife had been there several years ago and wanted me to experience it. We both did the CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA. I selected the English Breakfast Tea and my wife went with Earl Grey. Both were brewed perfectly and served in the cutest kettles. Almost all the Kettles we saw around us were unique/different which I thought was a lot of fun. If you have never done afternoon tea it's definitely something you should experience. The clotted cream with scones was just amazing and paired perfectly with tea. The small sandwiches were mostly good. I wasn't a fan of the onion one, but the cucumber, salmon, and egg were all excellent. Our least favorite bits were the desserts, but they were okay. Just not something I would specifically go back for. I'd take more scones and clotted cream to be honest. If you're going to go for Afternoon Tea in London, 10/10 would recommend going here. You won’t be disappointed. ”
“ I’ve been to The Wolseley a couple of times now — once for breakfast and more recently for dinner — and both visits left a great impression. Breakfast there was a standout. The vibe in the morning is calm but buzzing, and the menu has that perfect mix of classics done really well. The space is stunning—classic, elegant, and full of that old-school charm that makes you feel like you're somewhere special. Dinner had that same timeless atmosphere. I tried the caviar, which was good, though honestly not the best I’ve had. Still enjoyable, just not a standout. The rest of the meal was solid, and the service was exactly what you’d hope for; warm and professional. Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in London and looking for a beautiful setting and a refined dining experience. I’d go back, maybe skip the caviar next time and try something else from the menu. ”
